TKM SURF – A website in English and Spanish about surfing and health

TKM Values

Here at TKM Surf, we have clear values: respect other surfers, respect the ocean, and respect yourself.

Respect other surfers

Learn the local etiquette. Be polite. Don’t snake waves. Don’t be a kook. Don’t give female surfers unsolicited advice from your endless bank of surf wisdom unless they ask for it. Trust me, they know what they’re doing.

Respect the ocean

Use sunscreens that don’t pollute. Never leave trash near the beach. Carpool if you can. Don’t mess with the wildlife.

Respect yourself

Choose your board carefully. Choose your gear carefully. Don’t go out in a 3/2 in the winter. Wear boots if it’s cold. Don’t let others dictate your self-worth. If a twelve year old steals your wave – be the bigger person. If a WSL Pro is around, let them have the wave. But other than that, stick up for yourself in a polite, constructive manner. Someone once told me, “The ocean can teach you a lot, if you let it.” Let the ocean teach you to be a better person.
